Carven Ma Griffe 1/6 oz Parfum Click on each photo for larger view of it Another lovely Chypre perfume from the 1940s. They really made great Chypres between 1930 and 1957. This is another great perfume for the perfumista collection of classic scents. Ma Griffe was launched in 1946. The nose behind this fragrance was Jean Carles. Top notes are aldehydes, gardenia, green notes, asafoetida, clary sage and lemon; middle notes are iris, orange blossom, orris root, jasmine, ylang-ylang, lily-of-the-valley and rose; base notes are labdanum, sandalwood, cinnamon, musk, benzoin, oakmoss, vetiver and styrax. It is thick, warming and seductive and the Amber is the main note. It is very condensed and to die for. Makes a fantastic base for blending your own perfume. Charbert Breathless 1 oz Parfum Click on each photo for larger view of it I am very fond of the Charbert perfumes and Breathless is one of my favorites. Charbert bottles are all done in the design of a marching drum. Breathless was first released in 1933. I would estimate there to be about 1/3 oz to 1/4 oz of amazingly condensed and beautiful oriental perfume. Spicy, a base of vetiver, tonka bean, patchouli, musk, amber, and balsam. The top notes are gone but the rich orange and bergamot notes have mellowed to a have a warm, carnation feel. Just a wonderful wearable perfume. I would date this bottle to the 1950-60 range.
